About Us

Who We Are

Troop 19 is a Scouts BSA troop for young women, proudly sponsored by The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The troop was founded in February 2019 by Mary Elizabeth Gump, following the historic decision by Scouts BSA to open its program to girls.

We are part of the Phoenix District of the Atlanta Area Council, and today our Scouts come from all over Atlanta — public schools and private schools.

Our Philosophy: Choose Your Own Adventure
Every Scout’s journey is different — and we celebrate that. In Troop 19, each young woman is encouraged to discover the path that inspires her most:

  • Some Scouts are working toward the prestigious Eagle Scout rank.
  • Others focus on the fun and camaraderie of campouts.
  • Many dive into merit badges that match their interests.
  • All benefit from building confidence, leadership skills, and resilience through one of the most respected youth programs in the country.

Whatever your Scout’s goals, Troop 19 is committed to helping her find her own journey.

About Scouting America

A Century of Leadership
Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) is one of the nation’s oldest and most respected youth development organizations. Founded in 1910, it has helped shape generations of leaders through outdoor adventure, service, and character-building experiences.

In 2019, the organization began welcoming girls into its flagship Scouts BSA program — opening the door for young women across the country to earn ranks, lead troops, and pursue the coveted Eagle Scout award.

Today, Scouting America includes millions of youth members nationwide, forming a vast network of alumni, volunteers, and supporters. Joining Scouting means becoming part of a lifelong community.

The Eagle Scout Legacy
More than 2.7 million Scouts have earned the Eagle Scout rank since its creation — including over 8,600 young women since 2019. Eagle Scouts are known for leadership, perseverance, and service — qualities that often carry into adulthood.

Notable Scouts include: Neil Armstrong, astronaut and first person on the moon; Steven Spielberg, filmmaker; Gerald Ford, U.S. President

Why Scouting Matters
Scouting America offers:

  • A proven leadership development program
  • Outdoor skills and adventure
  • Character-building experiences
  • Lifelong friendships and networks
  • Opportunities for personal growth and achievement

For young women, the program provides a chance to join a national movement, build confidence, and take on leadership roles that prepare them for life.
